Split for the first time
It happened for the first time on my third Croatian IOM tour, which a wind blew that fitted for my little boat and my rough soul; sure, we needed to soak for a whole day, to have this. This time Gyula did not join me.

It happened for the first time as well, that as there were only 19 boats we had to compete in one group. It is good, because we can do many races, and we do not get stuck on the shore, but bad as well, because the field is so small. However I would be glad, if that was the small field in Hungary. As a way to say thanks, the weather set in with rain, and the Saturday lingered the same way. The wind blew from the coast and some races were organized on that day. Certainly less than I would have liked, and more races than it would have been pleasurable in this rainy weather. I rack up some great place, but I have not improved enough yet to keep my first place. It was surely the case, that if it blew, I got closer to the top of the field. If I did not hook up with somebody, then I definitely arrived to the first buoy as the fifth or sixth, but in this wind I was able to come up.

There was some problem with the accommodation though. I don’t recommend the Hotel Zenta, because it is expensive while it is rather crappy. Surely the Sunday’s breakfast didn’t help their popularity with the floating sausages in cold water.

So the Sunday started in a good, very good wind. There were pretty big waves, and even wearable first rig. I enjoyed it a lot! While it was blowing. My advance plan was to finish before the midfield. In this case, the aim was the eighth place or better. I did not have any problem in reaching this, until some races before the end the wind stopped and in giant hulking waves, I became to be in a great speed disadvantage, what I could not doctor until the end. This way I slipped down to the ninth place, which does not show much development, but I sailed pretty well. :)

I have always loved Split, it did not disappoint me again and I have learnt a lot. My settings are getting clearer and soon I will be able to make the sail’s shape to the different wind types fairly quickly.
